HAIR TRANSPLANTATION TECHNIQUES
HAIR TRANSPLANTATION TECHNIQUES
- a) FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)
- Hair Transplant Preparation
This stage refers to the disinfection of the area where the hair will be collected and the application of anesthesia. Although this section is an application before the hair transplantation process, it is a stage that determines the comfort of the whole operation. Anesthesia (local) is a procedure performed with the help of special needles or apparatus.
- Collection and Separation of Hair Roots
In hair-beard-eyebrow transplantation, the procedure that will be performed after the anesthesia process is to separate the hair follicles from the skin structure with the needles in the cylinder structure rotating with low speed called micro motor. In this section, the factor that will affect the success of hair transplantation is the way to collect hair follicles. This means that the point that will determine the naturalness of the region where the hair is collected is not to understand the collected hair follicles. For this, hair roots should be separated from the nape with an unobtrusive distribution.
- Opening the Channels
The opening of the channels is the most important stage providing the natural appearance in the hair structure. Besides the frequency of the hair to be planted, the correct angle and direction of the channels are the most important factors affecting the naturalness. The angle is the vertical angle of the hair to the skin and is approximately 40-45 degrees. What is meant by the direction is the natural (combing) aspect of the hair. The most natural results will be achieved by the channels opened according to these two points.
- Planting of hair follicles
The hair transplantation process is terminated by placing the hair follicles collected in the channels opened in the previous stage. In this section, hair roots should be kept in as little contact as possible to prevent damage to the root tissue. Roots should be separated according to their types and appropriate roots should be placed in the appropriate section.
- b) DHI Technique (Direct Hair Implantation):
Unlike FUE technique, DHI technique; hair grafts from the donor area can be defined as a method in which two stages take place at the same time as suturing the area to be transplanted with a special pen (implant or Choi needle) without opening the canal. Choi needle is very thin in shape, cylindrical and has a sharp tip. The Choi needle is in the form of a canal and the hair can be inserted through the canal and inserted into the needle. The reason that the DHI application is called the Choi method is also a feature of this needle.
- In a hair transplantation operation performed with the Choi pen, the collected hair grafts are inserted into the pen individually.
At this stage, placement should be done with great care and attention. After placing each hair follicle, the technicians performing the placement process give these hair follicles for transplantation.
- Planting specialist slices the hair follicles at the most appropriate angle of 40-45 degrees to suit the combing direction. The direction shown by the hair before planting is the proper combing direction.
- The angles and directions of the grafts placed in Choi pen are determined correctly and the needle is pushed with the sowing feature.
During the process, 2 to 6 Choi pens and an average of 15-16 choi pens are used. Depending on the person’s hair follicle and thickness structure, the tips of the pens can be of different sizes.
- c) Sapphire tip FUE:
FUE, which is realized with inserts produced from a very precious mineral such as sapphire, refers to the use of special sapphire tip instead of metal slit in the channeling stage of hair transplantation. In fact, FUE made with sapphire tip is not a technique but an innovation developed in the FUE method. It is designed to open smaller microchannels in the area where the hair follicles will be placed, to accelerate the formation and recovery process with minimal scaling.
In the FUE method, where sapphire tip is used, hair follicles are collected from the donor sites one by one with local micro-motor under local anesthesia, using micro tips with diameters ranging from 0,6 – 0,7 – 0,8 mm. The collected hair should be planted in the channels to be opened with sapphire tip. It directly affects the angle, direction and frequency issues that significantly affect the naturalness of the hair. Therefore, the most important step in the success of the operation is the opening of the channels.
